What you need to create a birth chart
Start with your birth date, local birth time, and birth city. Your city gives the calculator a location and timezone. You do not need to convert the time to UTC or look up coordinates yourself.
Confirm your email, enter those details, and select your city from the search results. Your chart is saved to your account, so you can return without entering everything again.
Start with your Sun, Moon, and Rising
In traditional astrology, the Sun is associated with identity and motivation. The Moon is associated with emotional habits and comfort. The Rising sign, also called the Ascendant, describes how you approach new situations and the impression you make.
Read each placement on its own before trying to combine them. Notice what fits your experience and what does not. A chart interpretation is a starting point for reflection, not a fixed description of who you are.
Then explore houses and aspects
Houses organize a chart into areas of life. For example, the fourth house is associated with home, the seventh with partnership, and the tenth with public life and work.
Aspects describe angles between planets. A trine is roughly 120 degrees and is traditionally read as an easier relationship. A square is roughly 90 degrees and is traditionally associated with tension. Neither determines whether an event will happen.
Astrocurious shows these placements and relationships alongside explanations, so you can look up a term as you encounter it.
Why your chart may differ between apps
Check the birth time, location, zodiac, and house system first. Astrocurious uses the Tropical zodiac and Porphyry houses. Another calculator may use Placidus or Whole Sign houses, which can change the houses assigned to planets.
If your birth time is an estimate, treat the Rising sign and houses as uncertain. Astrocurious does not automatically substitute noon. Enter the best time you have and update it when you find a more accurate record.
Your chart is also the basis for daily transits
Your natal placements stay tied to your birth moment. Transits compare the moving planets with those placements on a given day. Once your chart is saved, you can open your free daily transits without doing the setup again.

Which zodiac and house system does Astrocurious use?
Astrocurious uses the Tropical zodiac and the Porphyry house system. Porphyry divides each quadrant between the chart's four angles into three parts. A chart from an app using another house system can have different house placements even with the same birth details.
How are the calculations and interpretations made?
Astrocurious uses Kerykeion for chart calculations, written explanations for natal placements, and Anthropic for AI-generated transit interpretations and yearly reports. Astrology is an interpretive practice, not a reliable way to predict events.
